Researchers find oldest evidence of drug use in 25,000-year-old teeth

Researchers found the oldest evidence of drug use in 25,000-year-old teeth in Indonesia. The teeth contained traces of arecoline, a psychoactive compound which produces stimulating effects and may have helped relieve toothache. Researchers said the finding is older than the previous oldest evidence of psychoactive substance use, which came from remains of 13,000-year-old beer in Israel.
