A new study by researchers at the CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute reveals that the Puga and Chumathang geothermal fields in the Himalayas are fed by a single, continuous cooling pluton rather than by separate pockets. This high-energy geothermal system has remained hidden until now, but its discovery could help local high-altitude communities find new ways to heat their homes.
