Researchers at Harvard School of Engineering have successfully grown green algae inside shelters made of bioplastics in Mars-like conditions on Earth. The algae were kept under a Mars-like 600 pascals of atmospheric pressure, over 100 times lower than on Earth, and in a carbon dioxide-rich environment. This could open a clearer path toward extraterrestrial existence, the study's lead author said.
