Researchers recreate world's oldest synthetic pigment Egyptian blue

The world's oldest synthetic pigment Egyptian blue, which was used over 5,000 years ago, has been recreated by researchers from Washington State University and Smithsonian Institution. For this, the researchers created 12 different recipes using mixtures of silicon dioxide, copper, calcium and sodium carbonate along with variable heating times. Egyptian blue was highly valued during ancient times.
