Retail inflation stays above RBI's 4% limit for the second month in a row

Retail inflation in India came in at 4.45% in July, marking the second time that the metric has remained above the Reserve Bank of India's 4% limit. Inflation was driven mainly by higher-than-expected food inflation of 5.24%, personal care and miscellaneous goods and services (14.77%), restaurants (7.72%) and paan, tobacco and intoxicants (4.79%). July's inflation was highest in 2026 series.
