In 1178 AD, Princess Sanjukta of Kannauj defied her father by garlanding the statue of Prithviraj Chauhan. Prithviraj arrived at Kannauj and the couple married the same night. But after Prithviraj’s defeat by Muhammad Ghori in 1192 AD, Prithviraj and Sanjukta were imprisoned together until the day of their death.
