Scientists have warned that increasing rocket launches and re-entering space debris may hinder the ozone layer's recovery. "Pollutants like chlorine gas and soot from rockets damage the middle atmosphere," experts say. Chlorine breaks down ozone molecules, while soot particles heat the atmosphere, accelerating reactions that deplete the Earth's protective ozone shield against harmful UV radiation.
