Rising temperatures turning Tundras of the Arctic green: NASA

NASA researchers report that rising global temperatures are turning the Arctic tundras green, altering the vegetation structure of northern forests. This change could either help absorb more CO2 or worsen permafrost thawing, releasing ancient carbon stores. Using ICESat-2 and Landsat data, scientists found tundra landscapes becoming taller and greener, with trees and shrubs migrating northward.
