The government on Friday awarded contracts for 2,816 km road projects in various Indian states under its 'Bharatmala' project to link coastal and border areas. Under the project, the government plans to construct 7,000 km of new national highways by including coastal and border areas. The government had earlier announced that ₹50,000 crore will initially be spent for the project.
