Robert Mundell, Nobel laureate who inspired the euro, dies at 88

Robert Mundell, the Nobel Prize-winner and supply-side economist who was considered the intellectual father of the euro, has died at the age of 88. The Canadian-born economist's research and arguments for Europe's common currency had helped 11 European governments lay the foundation for the euro in 1999. Mundell also advised the UN, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
