Rocket for India's first rocket launch was carried on cycle

The rocket for India's first ever rocket launch was carried in parts on a bicycle to the launch site, a church in Thiruvananthapuram in 1963. The launch, which sent NASA-made Nike-Apache rocket to space, took place in a church as it was located on Earth's magnetic equator. The church later became ISRO's Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, named after ISRO founder.
