In 1969, Norma McCorvey, under the alias "Jane Roe," challenged Texas's abortion ban. Pregnant and claiming rape, her case was rejected. In 1973, the Supreme Court heard her appeal with another case, ruling 7-2 that abortion bans violated a woman’s constitutional right to privacy. This landmark decision became known as Roe v. Wade.
