Rogue black holes carry galactic history, study finds

New research using the ASTRID cosmological simulation suggests rogue black holes, displaced during galaxy collisions, retain records of their origins and host galaxies' histories, a study found. Yale scientists say wandering black holes are more common in low-mass galaxies and could help settle debates about early universe black hole formation — whether from stellar collapse or dense gas clouds.
