Roman mosaic and villa discovered beneath farmer's field in UK

Archaeologists have discovered a rare Roman mosaic and surrounding villa complex beneath a farmer's field in Rutland, UK. The site was first discovered by Jim Irvine, the son of the landowner, during the 2020 lockdown and was later investigated by archaeologists. The remains of the mosaic measure 11x7 metres and depict part of the story of the Greek hero Achilles.
