Ronnie Screwvala, who bought Unacademy for $200 million, once sold toothbrushes

Ronnie Screwvala, whose edtech startup upGrad recently acquired once-unicorn rival Unacademy for $200 million, sold toothbrushes in the 1970s before founding UTV Group in 1990. Now worth $1.7 billion, Screwvala expanded investment activities after selling UTV to Disney in the early 2000s. He started upGrad with three others in 2015 to build an online platform focused on formal higher education.
