A row erupted in Bihar after jewellery traders put up notices outside shop restricting entry of customers wearing burqa, niqab, mask or helmet. All India Jewellers and Goldsmith Federation’s Bihar head said the step was taken for security purposes. He added that requests would be made politely but if a customer refuses to comply, the shop will not sell jewellery.
