Economist Renu Kohli said India’s forex reserves may look comfortable, but cannot fully protect the rupee if durable foreign capital weakens. She said falling FDI, portfolio outflows, oil shocks and borrowed reserves make India’s balance of payments more vulnerable than headline reserve numbers suggest.
