Russia has emerged as India's biggest sunflower oil supplier, overtaking Ukraine. According to a report, Russian sunflower oil accounted for around 10% of imports in 2021, and it rose to 56% in 2024, as India imported 2.09 million tonnes of sunflower oil from Russia the same year. Before the Russia-Ukraine war, Ukraine was the biggest supplier of this oil.
