Mohammad Sadr, a member of Iran's Expediency Discernment Council, said the 12-day conflict with Israel in June "proved that the strategic alliance with Moscow is worthless". He accused Russia of providing Israel with intelligence about Iran's air defence sites. He also accused Israel of assassinating former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash in 2024.
