A senior Russian military officer was killed in a car explosion in southern Moscow on Monday. Investigators confirmed the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, head of the General Staff's training department. Russia's Investigative Committee has opened a murder probe and said it is examining whether Ukrainian special forces could be linked to the attack.
