Russian identifies 40,000 secret police officers over 20 yrs

Over 40,000 Soviet Union's secret police officers responsible for Stalin's "Great Terror" of 1937 and 1938, in which about 15 lakh people were arrested and 7 lakh shot, have been identified by a Russian man, Andrei Zhukov, after two decades of research. An organisation which works to document Stalin-era crimes has also released a CD of the database.
