Egor Igorevich Kriuchkov, a Russian national, has pleaded guilty to attempting to hack Tesla last year as part of a cybercrime gang in the US. Kriuchkov said the gang planned to provide an employee with malware to plant in Tesla's system and extort the company for a "substantial payment". The ransom would have been around $4 million, according to reports.
