The Russian Orthodox Church has proposed a stop to the practice of having priests bless nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction that can cause indiscriminate loss of life. The proposal says that the blessing of military weapons through sprinkling holy water on planes and ships is not reflected in the tradition of the Orthodox Church.
