As per reports, the Supreme Court held that Section 18 of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 (SC/ST Act) creates a bar against grant of anticipatory bail in relation to a person facing specific accusations of committing offence under the Act. It allowed an appeal against the Bombay High Court’s judgment which granted pre-arrest bail to the accused.
