South Korea's benchmark KOSPI plunged 10.17% on Tuesday, a day after Chinese company CXMT's shares debuted with a 470% premium on Shanghai's STAR Market. This resulted in heavy selling in SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics, which together make up more than half the index. A global chipmaker selloff also weighed on technology heavyweights across Asia and other major semiconductor markets.
