Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) on Tuesday reported a stand-alone net loss of ₹1,528.7 crore for the quarter ended December against a profit of ₹579.1 crore in the year-ago period. The total income for the quarter also dropped by 19.5% to ₹8,939.1 crore. The company attributed the loss to a surge in the import of low-cost steel from China.
