The civic body of Dehu in Pune, where the Marathi saint-poet Tukaram lived, has banned the sale of non-vegetarian food like meat and fish, PTI reported. Dehu Nagar Panchayat's chief officer Prashant Jadhav said, "The decision has been taken considering the sentiments of...locals and...devotees of Sant Tukaram." He said a flying squad has been formed to monitor the ban's implementation.
