Samajwadi Party (SP) chief whip in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Kamal Akhtar, on Tuesday resigned from his post at the direction of party president Akhilesh Yadav. This comes amid reports of Akhtar's differences with Ruchi Vira, SP MP from Moradabad. He was made SP's chief whip after party MLA Manoj Pandey resigned from the post in 2024.
