Samsung SDI, a component making unit of Samsung, lost $580 million on Wednesday as its shares plunged 8% following a tweet from Elon Musk clarifying that Tesla would procure batteries exclusively from Panasonic. Earlier, reports suggested that Samsung SDI might also supply batteries for Tesla. Notably, Panasonic added $800 million to its market value after the tweet.
