San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge gets safety net to prevent suicides after 87 years

A suicide prevention net has been installed at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. The suicide deterrent system has been installed around approximately 95% of the 2.7 km bridge. Around 2,000 people are known to have jumped to their deaths from the bridge since it opened in 1937 in the US city.
