Saudi Arabia will reportedly hold bidding among foreign engineering firms in order to dig a canal that will separate it from Qatar, turning the neighbouring state into an island. Salwa Canal aims to create a water barrier between Saudi and Qatar amid deteriorating relations between the two nations. The estimated cost of the project is around $746 million (₹5,000 crore).
