The Supreme Court has allowed counting of votes on May 2 for the Uttar Pradesh Gram Panchayat polls after the State Election Commission assured that COVID-19 norms will be followed. The bench directed that no victory rallies will be permitted. The order came on a teachers' body's plea stating that 700 teachers have died on duty during the four-phased elections.
