SC orders sealing of 16,000+ properties, demolition of illegal structures in Meerut

The Supreme Court has directed the UP government to seal over 16,000 properties in Meerut and demolish unauthorised structures. The court took note of illegal residential colonies and the commercial use of residential properties. It also ordered a judicial commission to conduct a thorough inquiry in Uldepur, on Meerut's outskirts, into the nature of the land where these colonies developed.
