A Supreme Court bench headed by CJI SA Bobde has refused an urgent hearing on plea seeking to declare Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) constitutional. The CJI said that this is the first time a plea has been filed to declare an Act constitutional. "This court's job is to determine validity of a law...not declare it as constitutional," the CJI added.
