The Supreme Court on Monday ruled that "The central forces will not be withdrawn from West Bengal, looking at the way things have happened in the past." This comes after seven judicial officers were kept hostage by protestors over the SIR exercise in Malda. The ECI has deployed lakhs of CAPF personnel in the state ahead of the polls.
