The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a petition challenging Election Commission of India (ECI)'s orders for transfer of various senior police officers and bureaucrats in West Bengal ahead of State assembly elections. "It happens everywhere. Not the first time," the apex court stated. However, it noted the legal issue regarding absence of consultation by ECI with state government was valid.
