SC upholds job condition to pay ₹2 lakh on untimely resignation

The Supreme Court has upheld a clause in a bank's appointment letter imposing liquidated damages of ₹2 lakh in the event of premature resignation. The Court held that such a condition neither amounts to a restraint of trade nor is it opposed to public policy. A restrictive covenant prescribing a minimum term is not unconscionable, the Court observed.
