Scammers using deepfake videos of US politicians, including President Donald Trump, to promote fake government benefits on Meta platforms have recently surged, a watchdog group, Tech Transparency Project, said. Around 63 scam advertisers collectively spent $49 million on Facebook and Instagram. These ads often targeted senior citizens and promoted fake government benefits like healthcare payments.
