The fares of school buses will increase by 15% across Maharashtra from the 2026-27 academic session, the School Bus Owners Association (SBOA Maharashtra) has announced. The association said that the fare hike was due to rising fuel prices, increased salaries for drivers and support staff, vehicle maintenance costs and insurance premiums. Fuel reportedly comprises 65% of operational costs of buses.
