Researchers have created the brightest known fluorescent materials ever made. These materials can preserve the optical properties of fluorescent dyes, overcoming their tendency to fade and change colours when converted to a solid-state from a liquid. For this, they formulated positively charged fluorescent dyes into a new class of materials called small-molecule ionic isolation lattices (SMILES).
