With the Cold Atom Lab on ISS, scientists have utilised microgravity to create Bose-Einstein condensates, called the "fifth state of matter", in space, a study showed. The CAL can chill atoms in a vacuum down to temperatures one ten-billionth of a degree above 'absolute zero' (–273°C). BECs were predicted by Satyendra Nath Bose and Albert Einstein over 95 years ago.
