Scientists develop lab-grown cells that reverse diabetes in mice
short by Sourav Kumar / on Thursday, 7 May, 2026
Scientists at Karolinska Institutet have developed insulin-producing cells from human stem cells that reversed Type 1 diabetes in mice. After transplantation, the cells released insulin and gradually restored the animals' ability to regulate blood sugar levels. Researchers improved the process by creating natural 3D cell clusters, reducing unwanted cell types and enhancing glucose response.
