Researchers at Finland's Aalto University developed a laser therapy for dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) that affects the retina and can lead to the loss of central vision. In this approach, the back of the eye is gently heated using near-infrared light, stimulating the eye's natural cleanup and repair systems to protect against blindness.
