Researchers at the University of Georgia have found that several North American bat species emit a bright green glow under ultraviolet light. The glow, visible mainly on their wings and tails, appeared in every species studied, suggesting it’s a genetic trait rather than one shaped by the environment. Scientists think it may be a communication signal, now preserved through evolution.
