Scientists discover proteins that could help fight cancer

Researchers at Sydney's Children's Medical Research Institute (CMRI) identified a set of three proteins that control telomerase, an enzyme that protects DNA during cell division. Telomerase helps maintain telomeres, which are vital for genetic stability. The researchers noted that disrupting these proteins in cancer cells prevents telomere maintenance, potentially stopping cancer cell growth.
