Scientists find on-off switch in key autophagy protein LC3

Researchers from CSIR-IGIB, UC USA, and Ashoka University discovered that protein LC3 acts as a molecular switch, activating only upon contact with cell membranes to trigger autophagy — the cell's recycling process. The finding could lead to targeted drugs for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and cancers linked to failed cellular waste clearance.
