Scientists find way to reverse kidney damage

US scientists have discovered a potential way to fully reverse acute kidney injury (AKI) in mice by blocking harmful ceramide molecules that damage kidney cell mitochondria. In a landmark Cell Metabolism study, genetically engineered super mice and a drug candidate showed complete protection against AKI, suggesting a future breakthrough for kidney repair.
