Scientists make cookies from plastic and discarded corn stalks

Scientists from Southern Illinois University Carbondale made consumable cookies from plastic with yeast and discarded corn plant stalks. The yeast transformed the plastic into edible proteins, which was passed through a 3D printer to create cookies. The research was funded by NASA's Deep Space Food Challenge which invited scientists to develop technology for feeding astronauts on long voyages.
