Scientists make world's worst electrical conductor
short by Gaurav Shroff / on Tuesday, 8 August, 2017
Denmark and US-based researchers have developed siloxane wires, formed using repeating units of silicon and oxygen, that exhibit the greatest electrical resistance ever recorded. The resistance of the single-molecule-thick, 2-nanometre-long wires was determined using a scanning tunnelling microscope. The wires could be potential molecular insulators in electronics, researchers said.
