Scientists revive 30,000-year-old virus

French scientists have revived and awakened a 30,000-year-old virus called Pithovirus sibericum, from the Siberian permafrost earlier this week. Measuring 1.5 micrometres in length, it is the biggest virus ever found and can easily be seen under a microscope. However, scientists say that the virus poses no danger to humans and animals as it mostly attacks amoebas.
